Black male representation

In the articles written by Guerrero & Gray, the authors expose racial stereotypes and Black representations seen in old and new media. I think its important to note that without media, our perception of reality would be limited. Grey points this out and aims to recognize the density of black male representation in his article. He describes current trends of Black representation as “incompetent, oversexed, and uncivil” (28). Tyler Perry’s Temptation shows themes relating to drugs, misogyny, crime, sexual violence, and domestic abuse. The overarching framework of these themes support Guerrero & Grey’s claims and reinforce racial stereotypes portrayed in the media.
